NARRATIVE: At 4:23 pm on Monday July 14, 2008 the Spokane Fire Department was sent to Liberty Park again for a brush and timber fire. It was reported that children playing with fireworks in the area ignited a hillside on the south side of the park. With an aggressive attack from above and below the fire was kept to no more than a couple of acres. Crews will check the area periodically throughout the night watching for flare ups. A brush second alarm was called due to the breezy conditions and the difficult accessibility of the fire. In all 20 Firefighters responded to control the fire and with no injuries.

PROBABLE CAUSE: Under investigation
DAMAGE EXTENT: approximately 2 acres of brush, grass and trees
