South Battalion Fire in Commercial Building

Narrative:
On Tuesday November 22, 2011 at 07:07AM, 8 Companies of Spokane Firefighters, 5 Engines, 2 Senior Ladders and 1 Heavy Rescue under the direction of Battalion Chiefs Sabo and Haworth responded to a building fire at 806 W 3rd (Greenboatstuff.com). While opening the business in the morning, workers found the area full of smoke when unlocking the doors and immediately called 911. The business is primarily an internet-driven company that distributes environmentally friendly boat supplies. The first company arrived within 4-minutes and found smoke in the interior of the single story commercial building. Companies entered the building and successfully located the fire in the interior and were able to confine it to the area of origin. It took 25 Firefighters just 10 minutes to locate and knock down the fire and control the incident. Firefighters were able to contain the damage to one office area and prevent it from spreading into the nearby combustibles and ceiling areas. No civilian injuries or firefighters were reported.
Cause:
The nature is accidental and cause determined to be electrical.
Damage:
Damage is limited primarily to a confined office area.
