Narrative:
** Update Residence Fire at 5414 North Martin **
The cause of the fire has been determined as incendiary and the Spokane Fire Department’s SIU made an arrest early this morning in connection with the fire. Ruth Edmonson (53 y/o) was taken into custody by officers at the scene and booked into Spokane County Jail charged with Arson 1st Degree. The building at 5414 North Martin is dividing into three separate apartment units of which Edmonson was the tenant in unit 1. Preliminary evidence indicates that Edmonson started multiple fires in unit 1 that ultimately endangered the lives of occupants living in units adjacent to her apartment.
