Narrative:
A working smoke detector alerted a north side family to a fire in their basement tonight. Crews from Logan neighborhood’s fire station 2, (Hamilton and North Foothills Blvd.) were the first to arrive.  Captain Ken Miller reported a home fully charged with dark smoke and visible fire showing from basement windows on the southeast side of the home.  His crew was immediately split to provide a search of the home verifying occupant safety while setting up for an interior attack on the basement fire.  Incoming units were assigned to secure a hydrant water supply and provide for ventilation and additional back up hose lines.  Engine 2’s crew fought their way down the interior stairs, and extinguished the fire.  The quick response and decisive actions by the arriving firefighters brought this hot basement fire under control within 10 minutes.
There were no injuries at this incident and the local Red Cross is assisting the 3 adults and 3 children that have been impacted by this fire.  Fire crews were kept on scene throughout the night and fire investigators will follow up  with determining the cause on Tuesday.
