NARRATIVE: At 3:57 P/M on Friday September 4th City Fire crews were dispatched to mile post 279 West I 90 for a reported grass fire along the freeway. The first Engine Company reported several small fires moving west along the freeway. Crews from the City of Spokane Fire, District 10 and DNR attacked the fire. The quick response from fire crews prevented the fast moving fire from spreading into Finch Arboretum which is adjacent to the freeway. The fires ran along the freeway for about ¾ of a mile. The fires were contained in about 11/2 hours. Crews built fire lines and completed overhaul, this took about 2 additional hours. There were no reports of injuries. This fire incident is being investigated.

PROBABLE CAUSE: Under investigation.
DAMAGE EXTENT: Grass and brush and trees
DOLLAR LOSS: 500.00
