NORTH BATTALION MARINE INCIDENT

Narrative:
On Tuesday July 26, 2011 at 11:09AM, 5 Companies of Spokane Firefighters, 2 Engines, 1 Marine Unit (W16), 1 Special Rescue (R4) and 1 Senior Ladder (L2) under the direction of Deputy Chief Hanna responded to a reported person in the Spokane River at 3231 West Boone Avenue (San Souci Mobile Home Park) While responding, firefighters were notified by Fire Dispatch that a human body wearing a purple shirt was in the water. The first company arrived within 8-minutes and confirmed that a body was visible, established a unified command with the SPD and developed a recovery plan. The SFD's Marine Rescue Team and Technical Rescue Team was utilized to access the body, confirm death and transport the body to awaiting Police Detectives. There were no injuries to rescuers during this incident and the recovery effort was executed flawlessly.
