Busy Weekend For Spokane Firefighters

In addition to the multiple structural fire incidents and technical rescue this weekend, SFD Firefighter/Paramedics also treated three burn injuries in separate, significant medical incidents.

The first occurred on Saturday June 13th at 7:59 PM in the 1900 block of East Wellesley. An adult male citizen was burned in a flash fire after using a cordless drill during a painting operation. SFD Firefighter/Paramedics treated the man and he was transported to Deaconess Medical Center.

The second incident occurred on Sunday June 14th in the 1600 block of North Cook Street. Two adult females were injured in a fire involving a backyard fire pit around 1:42 AM. One female was burned critically and was treated by SFD Firefighter/Paramedics and eventually transported to Harborview in Seattle. The second female was treated and released from a local hospital. This incident is still open and under investigation by the SFD's SIU.

As the summer temperatures and outdoor activities increase, it is imperative that citizens take a proactive role in fire safety and make every attempt to prevent fires.
