Beacon Hill Wildfire Press Release



Current Activities:
21 Firefighters are currently on-scene of a Wildland fire on east
Spokane’s Beacon Hill. Beacon Hill is a mountain summit and climbs to
2,589 feet above sea level. Beacon Hill is located at lat/long coordinates
of N 47.694893 and W -117.334935


Weather and Fire Behavior:
High temperatures and gustier wind conditions are forecasted to continue
until 2300 tonight. The Spokane area is currently under a red flag
warning. Small changes in temperature, relative humidity and wind could
result in escalating fire behavior.

Tonight’s Planned Actions:


The dozer and assigned companies will develop and reinforce a perimeter around the fire. There may be minor amounts of smoke throughout the night; however smoke does not indicate a threat to the fire line. Crews will continue tonight to mop up and hold the perimeter. The incident will remain on patrol status throughout the night. No structures exist within the area. The Incident Commander will continue to release resources assigned to the incident that are identified as excess to the current needs.


Closures: Current road closures exist only on Beacon Hill.
