NARRATIVE: On July 13th 2010 at 10:44 am the Spokane Fire Dept responded 19 firefighters on 6 fire trucks along with 2 Battalion Chiefs to a reported natural gas leak. The 1st arriving engine reported that a backhoe had severed a 1 inch gas line in the road next to the Burlington Northern operational center while working on buried telephone lines. Firefighters utilized a charged hose line for protection of the public along with the Avista crew that repaired the leak. Other crews monitored the atmosphere in the surrounding buildings. Workers in the surrounding buildings were able to remain inside until the gas leak was repaired. There were no injuries to civilians or Fire Fighters.
