5-Mile Fire Cause Determined

Narrative:
The Spokane Fire Department's SIU has determined the cause of last night's residential structure fire at 8117 North Meghan to be accidental. The fire began as a result of a vehicle battery charging operation occurring in the garage of the residence. The fire's intensity was aided by nearby contents and natural fire spread while going unnoticed for a lengthy period of time. Considering the structure, contents and vehicles damaged; the estimated loss from this fire will be over $750,000.
