Narrative:
On Wednesday September 14, at 09:46 AM, six companies of Spokane Firefighters: 4 Engines, 1 Senior Ladder, 1 Heavy Rescue and 2 Chief Officers responded to a residential fire at 1009 East Glass. The first company arrived within 3-minutes and reported smoke showing from the rear of the home and around the foundation of the home. Neighbors informed the initial officer that two civilians lived in the home and were unaccounted for. The first ladder company made entry into the rear of the home, reported heavy smoke from ceiling to the floor, and stated that the fire appeared to be located in the basement. As additional companies arrived, they extended more hose leads to protect firefighters on the interior as they were searching for possible trapped civilians. SFD Paramedics and an AMR Ambulance were assigned to the incident solely in the contingency that civilians were located and rescued. The fire was located and knocked down within 10 minutes of arrival. The owner of the home arrived later in the incident and informed Incident Commander that he was unsure of his wife's location. Firefighters successfully located a deceased family pet dog and pet; however did not locate the remaining family member inside the home. Later in the incident, the missing wife was located away from the home running errands. The incident was mitigated quickly and there were no injuries to civilians or firefighters.
